PPN 02/23: Tackling Modern Slavery in Government Supply Chains

PPN 02/23 is to be implemented by in-scope organisations from 1st April 2023. And replaces PPN 05/19

This Procurement Policy Note and the supporting guidance gives contracting authorities clear recommendations in identifying and managing modern slavery risks within their procurement activities, and it includes current contracts as well as any new activity.

In scope organisations include NHS bodies.

Significantly many areas that were discretionary are now mandatory for contracting authorities to implement.

In scope organisations must use the guidance ‘Tackling Modern Slavery in Government Supply Chains’ to identify and manage risks in both new procurements and existing contracts.

There is also a Quick Reference Guide provided.

Suppliers are advised to take note of the content of this notice as they will be asked additional questions in tenders about how they are identifying and mitigating risks in relation to Modern Slavery and also will be asked for much more transparency around their supply chain.
